1. GWS maintains bid for home final, double chance
The AFL's newest club showed great resolve to bounce back from last week's devastating last-second loss to West Coast with a thorough demolition of Fremantle. The win has the club, temporarily, inside the top four at 15-6, with Geelong and Adelaide yet to play. Depending on the results from the rest of the round, the Giants could be anywhere between third and sixth by the end of the weekend.

2. Patton highlights GWS' forward potency
Entering Saturday's contest, Giants big man Jonathon Patton's best return from an AFL game was three goals. However, Patton broke through for a career-best six goals against the Dockers, proving no match for a besieged Fremantle backline. The performance comes at the perfect time for a GWS club entering its first finals campaign, opening up a new avenue to goal alongside Jeremy Cameron, who booted three majors.

3. Could the Dockers pick up the spoon?
Fremantle's second-half capitulation and eighth consecutive loss has left the club sitting on three wins and 18 losses and kept alive the, albeit unlikely, chance of picking up the wooden spoon. The loss to the Giants has also resulted in a hit to Freo's percentage, which has dropped from 75.6 entering the round to 72.7. While still ahead of the Brisbane Lions (61.89 per cent, 3-17) and cellar-dwellers Essendon (58.65 per cent, 2-18), another loss next week and wins from the Bombers and Lions would be enough to push the Dockers to the bottom of the ladder for the second time in club history.

4. Yarran maintains streak
Not only did Shane Yarran's three opening-term goals give the hardy band of Dockers supporters camped at the main scoreboard end of the ground a reason to get excited, it also continued the 27-year-old's run of scoring at least one goal in every game since making his AFL debut in round 18. The mature-age recruit, who was the WAFL's leading goalkicker in 2015 with 54 majors, now has nine goals from five matches at AFL level. That total has him equal-seventh on the club's goalkicking list alongside Nat Fyfe.

5. Mundy reaches milestone
Fremantle captain David Mundy has become the second Docker to reach the 250-game milestone in the club's history. The 31-year-old midfielder finished another difficult day for the club with 15 possessions and two marks. Mundy would have to play for five more seasons to catch club leader Matthew Pavlich, who is widely expected to end his AFL career next weekend in game number 353.
