HAVING pushed premiership contenders Adelaide to the brink of defeat, cross-town rivals Port Adelaide need to harness that same intensity irrespective of the opposition, Power defender Matthew Broadbent says.

The Power will be aiming to finish their disappointing season on a high when they face Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

Coach Ken Hinkley would be looking for the Power to replicate the aggression and attack on the ball they showed in Showdown 41.

The Power trailed by just one point at three-quarter time before going down to the Crows by 15 points at Adelaide Oval.

Broadbent said it was imperative the Power replicated that performance against the Suns.

"I guess in a Showdown that comes out, but we have to find a way to bring that every week, that intensity," Broadbent said on Monday.

"If you're playing on edge, you get the best out of yourself.

"We want to finish the season off strong and have a win and go into pre-season with a lot of confidence."

The Power had high expectations leading into the season, but have missed the finals for a second straight year with a 9-12 record after 21 games.

"That's probably been the frustrating part about the season ... we haven't had the consistency," Broadbent said.

"You look at the good sides and they bring that every week.

"They're not going to win every week, but at least they bring that consistency of effort and contest.

"We'll have to sit down at the end of the season and have a good, hard look at it because it's been frustrating and it certainly hasn't been enjoyable being up and down, up and down all season.

"That'll be a big thing going into pre-season and next season."

Broadbent said promising defender Riley Bonner could be in line to make his AFL debut this weekend as a reward for strong form in the SANFL.

"Riley's been around the mark," Broadbent said.

"He played well again yesterday for the Magpies.

"It's probably not a bad time to have a look at a few younger guys."

Power defender Logan Austin is set to come back into the side after missing the Showdown with a groin injury.

Fellow defender Tom Jonas (hamstring) and key forward Charlie Dixon (ankle) will need to pass fitness tests this week.
