Geelong v Sydney Swans

Patrick Dangerfield
The superstar was the highest-rated player in the round 16 clash between the Cats and Swans, and had an exceptional start to the game, racking up 18 disposals in the opening term before finishing with 34 in total. He also had 819 metres gained, 10 inside 50s and eight clearances. The Swans moved Tom Mitchell on to him after the first break in an attempt to shut down the Players' Association MVP in a move that was reasonably successful.

Kieren Jack
Since 2010, the Swans' co-captain has played better against Geelong than any other team. On the 12 occasions the two sides have met in that time, Jack has been among the best three performers for the Swans seven times. When he faced the Cats earlier this season in his 200th game, Jack had 24 disposals and 10 tackles, and the three goals he booted that night matched a career-high.

Greater Western Sydney v Western Bulldogs

Heath Shaw
The 2010 premiership defender with Collingwood had the best game of his career in the round nine match against the Western Bulldogs, his 222nd AFL appearance. Of Shaw's 38 disposals, only two were handballs, and he went at 100 per cent efficiency by foot. He gained 1094 metres for his team that day and had 14 rebound 50s. He was similarly prolific when the teams met last year, with 28 disposals and 13 rebound 50s.

Liam Picken
The leader of the AFLCA Gary Ayres Award for best finals player has been among the top six contributors on the ground in three of his past four games against the Giants. Picken's form since the mid-season bye has been impressive – he is ranked among the top 40 in the competition for contested possessions and inside 50s. In that time, only four players have crumbed the ball more.
