SYDNEY Swans defender Aliir Aliir remains a chance to line up in Saturday's Grand Final against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG after being cleared of serious knee damage.

The 22-year-old strained the medial ligament in his right knee late in the first quarter of Friday night's 37-point preliminary final win over Geelong.

Aliir succumbed to the game-ending injury in a marking contest against Cat Lincoln McCarthy, but was walking unaided post-match and at the airport on Saturday.

Swans head of football Tom Harley said Aliir would be given every opportunity to prove his fitness.

"The scans have revealed Aliir has suffered a low-grade medial strain," Harley told sydneyswans.com.au on Sunday.

"We will continue to monitor Aliir and assess him as the week progresses. He remains a chance to play."

Aliir had his medial ligament strapped and performed straight-line run-throughs along the boundary, but spent the rest of the game with ice strapped around his knee.

Should Aliir be ruled out, retiring Swans veteran defender Ted Richards could enter the selection frame in what would be a fairytale finish to his 15-year career.

Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (calf) and defender Callum Mills (hamstring) are also pushing to return from their respective injuries.

The club said the pair would be tested at training this week before a decision is made on their availability.

The Swans also confirmed All Australian midfielders Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker would feature in the Grand Final after scans cleared them of knee damage following separate knocks against the Cats.

Parker hurt his left knee in a marking contest early in the third quarter, while Kennedy began the second half with protective strapping around his right knee, but the duo got through the match with no major concerns.
