GREATER Western Sydney is favourite for the 2017 premiership, while Fremantle's flag odds have been slashed in half as it looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2016 season.

The Dockers are the big movers in the market, according to Crownbet, coming in from $50 into $23 for the flag after what has been deemed as a successful NAB AFL Trade Period by punters.

The recruitment of Bradley Hill, Joel Hamling, Cam McCarthy and Shane Kersten has punters full of confidence the Dockers can improve on their four-win season from 2016 and return to the finals race.

Punters are also banking on the return of a healthy Nat Fyfe and Aaron Sandilands, who should significantly bolster the club's midfield after missing a major chunk of this season with injury.

After acquiring Brett Deledio from Richmond, the Giants have been backed from $5 into $4 with punters expecting the club to go two steps better in 2017 following their preliminary final exit.

After losing best and fairest winner Sam Mitchell and runner-up Jordan Lewis to West Coast and Melboune respectively, Hawthorn is listed at $11 to win next year's premiership.

The Hawks have drifted from $10, however landing Jaeger O'Meara, albeit in an 11th hour deal, and the Swans' Tom Mitchell should be enough for Hawthorn to be competitive again.

Geelong has also drifted from $8.50 out to $9, after missing out on Deledio and letting go of Josh Caddy (Richmond), Billie Smedts (Carlton), Nathan Vardy (West Coast) and Kersten (Fremantle).

However, the Cats did bring in Carlton's Zach Tuohy and forgotten North Melbourne forward Aaron Black in the trade period with both set to fill specific needs in defence and in attack.
