TOM BARRASS stood out at West Coast's return to pre-season on Monday, with the key defender among eight Eagles at Wembley Sports Park.

The club's first to fourth-year players were due back on Monday.

After an impressive second half of last season, Barrass appears to have added muscle to his frame. The 21-year-old has played 13 matches for his career.

Recruits Sam Mitchell and Nathan Vardy are due back on November 28, along with the rest of the list.

The temperature went past 30 degrees as the Eagles sweat it out in tough conditions. Midfielder Dom Sheed was among those to take part in the session that lasted for about an hour. Knee surgery last December interrupted his preparation for the 2016 season.

Liam Duggan, Jackson Nelson, Tom Lamb, Malcolm Karpany, Matthew Allen and Irish rookie Paddy Brophy also took to the track.

Tom Cole, Kurt Mutimer, Luke Partington and rookie Jordan Snadden did not attend the light session but a club spokesperson said they were at a standard medical screening and had no physical ailments.
