DANIEL Wells' injury woes seem to have followed him to Collingwood, with the midfielder admitting he has a problem with one of his troublesome calves.

Wells left the training track before his teammates on Friday morning, with the club denying reports the 31-year-old had succumbed to yet another injury.

However, Wells conceded to reporters he was dealing with a calf problem, but would not elaborate on whether it is the same one that has plagued him in the past.

"There's a little bit of an issue, but really, a modified [program] is probably the main thing," he told Channel 7.

Collingwood has said Wells will be on a modified training program until Christmas in order to overcome various niggles, and that he was not scheduled to train on Friday.

Wells crossed from North Melbourne to the Magpies in contentious circumstances, after the unrestricted free agent was offered a three-year deal believed to be worth up to $1.8 million.

He rejected a two-year deal from the Kangaroos after playing 243 games in the blue and white.

Wells managed just 12 games in 2014 and 2015, struggling to overcome foot, calf and Achilles injuries, but he showed glimpses of his best in 2016, playing 19 games and averaging 23 disposals.

Club chairman James Brayshaw had said he hoped Wells would take into account how "unbelievably well renumerated" he had been through his injury issues at North Melbourne.
