The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the matches played in week one of the 2017 JLT Community Series. The following charges were laid:

Liam Shiels, Hawthorn, has been charged with striking Darcy Lang, Geelong Cats, during the first quarter of the Week One JLT Community Series match between Hawthorn and the Geelong Cats, played at UT Stadium on Thursday February 16, 2017. 

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea. 

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Geelong Cats’ Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.

Kade Stewart, Hawthorn, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Andrew Mackie, Geelong Cats, during the third quarter of the Week One JLT Community Series match between Hawthorn and the Geelong Cats, played at UT Stadium on Thursday February 16, 2017.

Jack Frost, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Brandon Matera, Gold Coast Suns, during the third quarter of the Week One JLT Community Series match between the Brisbane Lions and the Gold Coast Suns, played at Kombumerri Park on Sunday February 19, 2017.

The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.

Jarrad Waite, North Melbourne, has been charged with kneeing Harry Marsh, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the Week One JLT Community Series match between North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans, played at Coffs Harbour on Sunday February 19, 2017.
