ADELAIDE vice-captain Rory Sloane and defender Jake Lever trained strongly on Tuesday to put themselves in the frame for Sunday's round one clash with Greater Western Sydney at Adelaide Oval.

Crows skipper Taylor Walker was on a scheduled rest day after he got through a solid hour-and-a-half session on Monday in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Sloane is back into full duties after fracturing his eye socket during a match simulation drill on February 17.

"He's done contact work and with the injury to the face he's still been able to run, so that's obviously an important fact to get the training loads in to play a game of footy," Crows forward Tom Lynch said.

"They (Sloane and Walker) are ticking all the right boxes at the minute and they'll go pretty close.

"At this stage we'll be very hopeful they'll be right to go."

Sloane trained without headgear, which he wore in 2015 when he returned after fracturing his cheekbone in two separate incidents.

Walker experienced hamstring tightness in the third quarter of the Crows' final JLT Community Series game against the Brisbane Lions on March 11.

The key forward told Triple M on Tuesday morning the injury was progressing nicely.

"Yesterday I did a pretty big session and hit all my speeds and all my targets and did 100 per cent of the training," Walker said.

"I'll be confident if I get through Thursday."

Lever got through the entire session on Tuesday at Football Park.

The talented defender didn't play any games in the pre-season competition, so the match committee will need to decide if he comes straight back into the side for round one, or if they go with Andy Otten or Jake Kelly.

Veteran midfielder Scott Thompson (shoulder) is likely to play in a SANFL trial this weekend, but Brad Crouch (hamstring) is expected to be another week away.
