BOTH West Coast and Fremantle have major injury worries ahead of Saturday night's Western Derby, with Eagle Jamie Cripps and Docker Stephen Hill set to miss the much-anticipated clash.

Cripps landed awkwardly on his left ankle after leaping for a one-on-one marking contest in the closing minutes against Hawthorn, and immediately reached for his lower leg.

The 25-year-old small forward left the ground with the assistance of trainers and was on crutches in the rooms after the game.

Eagles defender Brad Sheppard suffered a knock to his knee against the Hawks and will be monitored over the coming days.

Fremantle, meanwhile, is expected to be without Hill against the Eagles after he picked up a right hamstring setback in the final term against North Melbourne.

The 26-year-old midfielder pulled up lame as he gathered possession and ran along the boundary line.

With the ball locked on the far side of the ground, Hill stayed on the field for several minutes and even managed to collect a handball, before eventually limping off.

Dockers coach Ross Lyon said Hill had hamstring tightness, adding the true extent would to be known following further assessment.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide have also been hit with hamstring injury problems, with the availability of three key players in doubt for round six.

Crows key defender Daniel Talia suffered a potentially serious left hamstring injury in the opening minute of the clash against Gold Coast.

The 25-year-old reached for the top of his left leg when following an opponent in the Crows' back half.

Talia was caught in the play as he headed to the bench, hobbling into a chain of handballs and kicking the ball from half-back with his right foot, before leaving the ground and not returning.

In a further blow for the Crows, forward Riley Knight had ice strapped around his right hamstring in the final minutes of the game.

Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak will have scans to determine the extent of the left hamstring complaint he experienced in the third quarter against Carlton.

The 28-year-old pulled up sore after being brought to ground in a tackle from Carlton veteran Kade Simpson.

Boak spoke to the medicos at the interchange area midway through the third term and sat out the rest of the match with ice strapped around his leg.

Power coach Ken Hinkley said Boak had picked up "a cork in the hamstring".

"He got a bit of a whack, a knee, into the back of the hamstring, just down low near the knee, and that was probably near where he felt it," Hinkley said.

North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein came off the ground in the hands of trainers in the final term against Fremantle with a right ankle complaint after landing awkwardly from a boundary throw-in.

The 28-year-old had his ankle taped and returned to see out the final two minutes of the game, but was restricted in his movement.

Third-year ruckman Braydon Preuss looms as the obvious replacement should Goldstein be forced to miss.

In other injury concerns so far in round five:

- St Kilda forward Nick Riewoldt sent a scare through the Saints' camp after rolling his right ankle in a one-on-one marking contest and limping from the field in the final quarter against Geelong. The 34-year-old had his ankle taped and came back on, finishing the game with ease.

- North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell was assessed at the interchange area in the second quarter against Fremantle after receiving a knock to his right knee from Docker Garrick Ibbotson. Ziebell required strapping and got through the rest of the match. "(The) knee's all good. I'll be fine," Ziebell told Channel Seven post-match.

- North forward Ben Brown had his left knee assessed during the second quarter and was off the field for over eight minutes before half-time. The 24-year-old, who appeared to tweak his already strapped left knee, underwent a fitness test on the ground during the main break and was moving fairly well in the second half.

- Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs dislocated his left thumb in the opening play of the second quarter against Port Adelaide, but got through the second half. Gibbs told Channel Seven on Sunday he "should be right" for Saturday's clash against Sydney at the MCG.

- Western Bulldogs defender Matthew Boyd received a cut to the back of his head from a Mitch Robinson knee early in the third quarter against the Brisbane Lions. Boyd needed medical treatment to stem the bleeding, and played out the match.

- Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley had his ankle heavily strapped in the first term. The 20-year-old then came off in the third quarter with an apparent hip complaint, but got through the rest of the game.

- Brisbane Lions forward Eric Hipwood suffered a corked left thigh from a knee he received from Bulldog Zaine Cordy in a second-quarter marking contest. Hipwood hobbled off to the bench and returned soon after.
