The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the first seven matches played so far in round five of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The following charges were laid:  

Charges laid: Easton Wood, Western Bulldogs, has been charged with striking Josh Schache, Brisbane Lions, during the second quarter of the Round Five match between the Western Bulldogs and the Brisbane Lions, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 22, 2017.  

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.  

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Brisbane Lions Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the body. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.  

Lachlan Hansen, North Melbourne, has been charged with striking Brady Grey, Fremantle, during the fourth quarter of the Round Five match between North Melbourne and Fremantle, played at Domain Stadium on Saturday April 22, 2017.  

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.  

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Fremantle Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.  

Nakia Cockatoo, Geelong Cats, has been charged with wrestling Jake Carlisle, St Kilda, during the fourth quarter of the Round Five match between the Geelong Cats and St Kilda, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 23, 2017.  

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.  

This was the player's second recent offence for wrestling. A second offence for wrestling is a $2500 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1500 sanction.  

Jake Carlisle, St Kilda, has been charged with wrestling Nakia Cockatoo, Geelong Cats, during the fourth quarter of the Round Five match between St Kilda and the Geelong Cats, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 23, 2017.  

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.  

This was the player's first recent offence for wrestling. A first offence for wrestling is a $1500 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.  

Cyril Rioli, Hawthorn, has been charged with striking Brad Sheppard, West Coast, during the third quarter of the Round Five match between Hawthorn and West Coast, played at the MCG on Sunday April 23, 2017.  

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.  

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the West Coast Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the body. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.    

Other incidents assessed The match day report laid against the GWS Giants' Toby Greene was assessed. After speaking to the umpire who laid the report and viewing all available vision, it was the view of the panel there was insufficient force in the contact to constitute a report. No further action was taken.
