Craig Lambert

CRAIG Lambert will not see out the final year of his contract with the Brisbane Lions after he and the club agreed to part ways.

Lambert is in the midst of serving a 12-month ban for his role in the Lachie Whitfield saga, which saw the GWS midfielder banned for six months.

Lambert was the Giants' welfare manager at the time of the incident in 2015, before joining the Lions later that year as their retention and strategy manager.

"Craig has been a member of the Brisbane family for nearly 20 years, a club champion and All Australian on the field and a well-respected administrator off it," Lions CEO Greg Swann said in a statement.

"We wish Craig all the best, and look forward to seeing him take his next step in his football journey."

Graeme 'Gubby' Allan is also serving a 12-month suspension for the Whitfield incident.

Lambert was replaced at the Lions by former AFL Players' Association representative Andrew Crowell late last year.

Lambert's wife Melissa still works at the club, under Crowell.
