INJURED Geelong midfielder Patrick Dangerfield travelled to Adelaide on Wednesday, a day before his teammates are due to depart, with a cloud still hanging over his fitness for Friday night's blockbuster against the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

The 27-year-old will be given every chance to prove his fitness for the clash against his former club, telling Channel Nine his injured foot was improving every day.

However, he gave no guarantees he would be fit to play in the top-of-the-table clash.

"It's improved each day [but it's] kind of important to be able to run if you're playing footy," Dangerfield said.

Dangerfield has been in a moon boot since Saturday's game and did not join his teammates in full training at Simonds Stadium on Wednesday.

After hurting his foot in the first quarter against Hawthorn he showed his match-winning ability when he kicked 5.6 after being sent to play as a deep forward because of the injury.

Earlier on Wednesday, Geelong coach Chris Scott said last year's Brownlow medallist would be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.

When asked the percentage chances of Dangerfield playing he said he was a 40/60 proposition but was clear that he was only guessing.
