MELBOURNE defender Neville Jetta limped from the training track after rolling his right ankle in unusual and unfortunate circumstances at Gosch's Paddock on Tuesday.

Jetta turned his right ankle when he accidentally stood on a stray football lying around during a kicking drill, causing him to fall to the turf.

The in-form defender initially tried to laugh the incident off but realised after a few moments that something was not quite right.

The defender hobbled off to the side of Gosch's Paddock where he was assessed by club doctor Zeeshan Arain.

After having his right ankle checked out, seemingly for any structural damage, the medical team decided he would be best served to not rejoin training.

Jetta then walked with a slight limp, to the club's training headquarters at AAMI Park with teammate Christian Salem for further evaluation.

It is unclear whether the injury is enough to put him any doubt for Saturday's clash against North Melbourne in Hobart, however sources AFL.com.au spoke to did not seem to be overly concerned by the injury.

AFL.com.au will have a further update on Jetta's injury as soon as one becomes available.
