Early prognosis

Captain Walker and vice-captain Sloane will have to complete Wednesday's main training session to be given the green light for Friday night's blockbuster with Sydney at Adelaide Oval. Midfielder Hampton is set to play his first game in three months after ankle surgery. He'll play in the SANFL if passed fit, along with key defender Hartigan, who has been sidelined for two weeks after a recurrence of a hamstring injury. - Lee Gaskin

The Blues hope to regain youngsters Cuningham (ankle) and McKay (toe), who have missed the past two games. Marchbank missed last Saturday’s game against West Coast after pinching a nerve in his right arm. He lost strength in the arm, but it is improving steadily and he hopes to be available for round 23. - Howard Kotton

There's no timeline yet on McCartin, who is training and feeling good but has not quite shaken off his concussion.  Billings copped a poke to his left eye against Melbourne last Sunday but isn't in any doubt, while Riewoldt is expected to return. Stevens faces a test later in the week after he was concussed against the Dees. Freeman is unlikely to play again this season, considering a finals berth seems out of reach for Sandringham. Rice would be pushing it to make it back this weekend. - Dinny Navaratnam
