WHICH high achiever is 2017's greatest entertainer? The Footy Personality of the Year award is the people's champion - the superstar showman who brings the crowd to its feet.

The nominees are ...

Eddie Betts

It's hard to think of another player who can get the fans off their seats as consistently as the champion small forward. Betts has been nominated three times this season for the Coates Hire AFL Goal of the Year, and topped the weekly voting twice, highlighting his ability as a pure entertainer. He's also played a critical role in the Crows' rise towards the minor premiership, contributing close to 50 goals for the fourth straight season.

Marcus Bontempelli

Without the Bont, where would the Bulldogs be this season? Whether it's picking an opponent's pocket to steal a crucial goal or working as the face of the club in the media, the Bont has again been the reigning premiers' beating heart. Dogs fans won't quickly forget his best-afield efforts in wins over the Tigers and Swans that preserved their side's finals hopes. It is hard to believe this bona fide superstar is still just 21 years old.

Patrick Dangerfield

Whether on or off the field, last year's Brownlow Medallist has appeared determined to thoroughly enjoy himself this year. Among his entertaining media work was his Zach Galifianakis-inspired series of awkward interviews, which managed to delight some fans while bemusing others. Where it counts on the ground, Dangerfield has backed up his Brownlow year by showcasing explosive power and incredible versatility. Nowhere was this better demonstrated than against Hawthorn, when a leg injury forced Danger to the unfamiliar position of full-forward. He kicked a casual five goals.

Dustin Martin

The hard-as-nails superstar saves his talking for the footy field. When Dusty says 'Don't argue', the Tiger army rises to its feet. Martin is a brute of a midfielder who in 2017 has taken his game to a new, electrifying level. On track to threaten Dangerfield's record Brownlow haul, he's the main reason the Tigers have defied expectations to compete for a place in the top four. He's at his most comfortable when crashing through tackles, but that doesn't stop him from regularly snagging remarkable goals and bringing his teammates into the game.
