AFTER tasting life without finals for the first season in eight years, Hawthorn fans have voted boom recruit Tom Mitchell their team's shining light.
Mitchell captured 75 per cent of the vote as the club's player of the year as fans gave their end-of-season verdict on the Hawks in an AFL.com.au survey.
Ben McEvoy (10 per cent) and gun first-year defender Ryan Burton (seven per cent) rounded out the top three.
But while Mitchell's arrival was a roaring success, it's been a year from hell for fellow recruit Ty Vickery.
The former Tiger struggled to break into the senior line-up and dealt with off-field issues, being arrested in a mid-year police probe before being released without charge.
Forty per cent of fans voted Vickery Hawthorn's most disappointing player.
Here are the full survey results, plus a selection of Hawk fans' moments to remember and forget.
