ADELAIDE and Richmond have emerged unscathed from their preliminary final wins, but a big question mark hangs over Crow Mitch McGovern's availability for the Grand Final.

The 22-year-old picked up a left hamstring injury during the Crows' closed training session over a week ago, which forced him to miss Friday night's 61-point win over Geelong.

Crows coach Don Pyke said McGovern would have to prove his fitness this week.

"We'll give him every chance," Pyke said post-match.

"He's back running to a reasonable level now and clearly he'll have to do some training at some pretty high level this week for us to feel comfortable taking him.

"But I spoke to him just before and he's in a real positive mind frame and he'll give himself every chance to play."

Utility Andy Otten was brought into the side to replace the injured McGovern in attack, finishing with 13 disposals and a goal against Geelong.

McGovern, who has kicked 20 goals from his 13 games in 2017, missed nearly three months this season with a torn right hamstring he suffered in the Showdown against Port Adelaide in round three.

Adelaide forward Tom Lynch was involved in an accidental head clash with Cats midfielder Sam Menegola in the final term, but came back after a spell on the bench.

This year's heartbreak story, Crows defender Brodie Smith, misses Saturday's Grand Final after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the qualifying final.

Richmond, meanwhile, got through Saturday's 36-point preliminary final win over Greater Western Sydney without any major concerns.

Defender David Astbury (right shoulder) and onballer Kane Lambert (foot) were assessed at quarter-time, but both returned early in the second term and seemed fine.

Superstar Dustin Martin received a knee to his left ribs from Giants defender Heath Shaw in a third-quarter marking contest, but also played on.

Backman Brandon Ellis came off late in the match holding his right wrist after being tackled to ground on the wing, and spent the closing minutes on the bench.

"I think just sore boys … but other than that we escaped pretty much unscathed," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said post-match.

In other injuries from the penultimate weekend of the season, Giants midfielder Dylan Shiel suffered a delayed concussion following separate bumps by Tigers Trent Cotchin and Astbury in the first term.

Shiel was assessed at quarter-time and took no further part in the game.

Geelong captain Joel Selwood appeared to hurt the left ankle he had surgery on after slipping at a centre bounce midway through the final term against Adelaide.

The 29-year-old hopped off the ground unable to put much weight on his foot, but returned to see out the latter stages of the match after being assessed.

Selwood last month had surgery on his left ankle to repair a syndesmosis injury he suffered against Sydney in round 20.

Midfielder Scott Selwood reached for his left hamstring when he swung Crows vice-captain Rory Sloane in a tackle during the first quarter.

The 27-year-old played on for the next couple of minutes before jogging off the ground for assessment.

He began the second term on an exercise bike at the interchange area and returned with his leg strapped.
