Female Competitions and Talent Coordinator – AFL Yarra Ranges/ TAC Eastern Ranges / Eastern Football League

The Eastern Ranges, Eastern Football League and AFL Yarra Ranges have developed a unique partnership overseeing all aspects of Female Football in the Eastern Region of Melbourne. This partnership aligns all key pillars in Female Football including all Talent and representative programs (including Eastern Ranges TAC Cup), female development programs and female competitions, senior and junior. The partnership strives to develop and increase female participation across all fields, including playing, umpiring, coaching and administration. The Eastern Region Girls Football League, made of clubs from the Eastern Football League and AFL Yarra Ranges is the major female football competition in Melbourne’s East aims to create a pathway for females from Auskick to senior football.


AFL Yarra Ranges in partnership with Eastern Football League and AFL Victoria have a unique opportunity for a Female Competitions and Talent Coordinator. This role is a full-time role that is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of female football in the region including Eastern Ranges TAC Girls and associated talent programs, the Eastern Region Girls and Women’s competitions, and any associated development programs


  • Oversee the conduct and administration of all Junior Girls, Youth Girls and Open Age female football competitions within the Eastern Region.
  • Management of representative and talent programs in the region programs the TAC Cup Girls Program, and any associated underage academy programs.
  • League and competition management including annual fixtures (Senior and Junior) organisation of the various finals series and review and amendment of Football By-Laws, policies and procedures etc.
  • Lead and manage region staff so that the recruitment, retention and performance of staff all contribute positively to the conduct of the TAC Cup Girls Program, and any associated underage academy programs.
  • Manage all media, marketing and promotion of Female Football programs in the region to generate interest, attract potential talent and public awareness
  • Review and amend TAC Cup Girls Program, and any associated underage academy programs when required and provide administrative support to the TAC Cup Girls Program, and any associated underage academy programs
  • Liaise with affiliated clubs, League Boards and AFL Victoria to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Work with clubs regarding gender equity and inclusion of females as a core component of participation at their club.
  • Develop and monitor effective and efficient participation pathway strategies between NAB AFL Auskick, school football, junior, youth & senior club football – similarly, an identifiable pathway should also exist for female coaches and umpires.
  • Implement and manage development programs and other initiatives in the Region in consultation with the Eastern Region Football Development Managers.


  • Highly developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Good attention to detail and excellent time management skills and prioritizing skills.
  • Experience and skills in developing & conducting presentations, training courses, etc.
  • Computer literacy to a high level, include Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft applications, Website Editing and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A genuine interest in football and netball, with a desire to lead growth and further development of the Eastern Region Girls and Eastern Ranges “brand”.
  • Proven to be flexible, adaptable, show initiative and a proactive thinker
  • Solid understanding of the environment of Community Football and Netball Clubs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in staff management practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Working with Children Check


  • Previous experience in football operations
  • Substantial knowledge on TAC Cup development programs, talent identification and development
  • Degree in related field eg: teaching, sports management, business or equivalent related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AFL Victoria development/participation programs.
  • Experience in facility management and local Council relations.
  • Knowledge of the football structure in the region.
