THREE players have been given NAB AFL AFL Women's lifelines, signing as free agents for the upcoming season.

Adelaide has re-listed midfielder Sophie Armitstead, who tore her meniscus during the 2017 AFLW season.

With the short nature of the season, the Crows wanted to make sure Armitstead was fully fit before recommitting to the soon-to-be 23-year-old.

GWS has further bolstered its midfield stocks, signing midfielder Melissa Freckleton. She plays with the Western Wolves in the AFL Sydney competition.

The Western Bulldogs have added defender Rachel Ashley to their list. The 18-year-old, who was invited to the Draft Combine but not selected in the draft, will move interstate from Perth.

She is an intercepting defender who can take a strong mark.

Clubs will complete their playing lists ahead of the AFLW season with a rookie draft on Friday.
