CARLTON has shed another three players from its list, with Rhys Palmer, Dylan Buckley and Ciaran Sheehan delisted.

Palmer was drafted at No.7 in 2007 by Fremantle and won the NAB AFL Rising Star in his debut season, ahead of four-time premiership player Cyril Rioli and Brownlow medallist Trent Cotchin.

The former Docker and Giant was awarded a maximum five votes by eight of the nine judges.

However, his 2009 season was cut short by a knee reconstruction, and he was never the same player after that. 

After 53 games with the Dockers, he went to Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2011 and fashioned a role as a small forward in his five years with the developing Giants.

The last of those matches came in 2016 as GWS lost to the Western Bulldogs in a nail-biting preliminary final. 

He was then traded to the Blues for pick No.135 in that year's NAB AFL Draft.

The 28-year-old added just one game this season to his tally, finishing on 123 matches. 

Buckley was the son of triple-premiership club great Jim and was drafted as a father-son selection in 2011, at No.62. The 24-year-old played 39 matches for the Blues.

Sheehan was an Irish rookie who endured an injury-riddled time since being picked up at No.60 in the 2013 rookie draft.

The 26-year-old played six career games. 

Carlton football manager Andrew McKay praised each of the departing players.

"Dylan has been a popular member of our playing group and was always a team-first player. He is a wonderful character and contributed in a positive way to the culture of our football club," McKay told carltonfc.com.au.

"Ciaran had an unfortunate string of injuries but showed terrific resilience his time at the club. He made the most of his opportunities and we will miss his humility and determination.

"We thank Rhys for his contribution this season too, arriving from GWS as a hard-bodied midfielder who provided important experience for our young players. It's unfortunate that his body is not able to cope with the rigours of AFL anymore and we wish him well. 

Carlton has made 10 changes to its list since the end of the season.
