FREMANTLE defender Tommy Sheridan has made an impressive start to the pre-season, winning the Dockers' 2km time trial.

The 24-year-old clocked the fastest time ahead of runner-up Cam Sutcliffe on Wednesday morning at Cockburn.

Speedy wingman Bradley Hill, who won both of Fremantle's 3km time trials during last year's pre-season, did not compete and watched on from the sidelines.

The time trial was run in two different groups with the times collated after to determine final placings.

Defenders Luke Ryan and Ethan Hughes tied for third position, while youngster Griffin Logue and veteran Danyle Pearce also performed strongly.

"Griffin Logue's really fit at the moment, Luke Ryan flew home as well. Ethan Hughes has got a sore wrist and he's looking in great shape," Sheridan told fremantlefc.com.au.

He revealed his secret to winning was to take his mind off the arduous run.

"I actually pretended I was at Venice Beach on the second lap, just a bit of a breeze down there. You've just got to try to think of other things to get your mind off it," Sheridan said.

Fremantle's women's side also took part in a 2km time trial.

Lisa Webb, Fremantle's first selection in the 2017 rookie draft, showed off her elite running talent by taking out the honours on Tuesday night.

Club best and fairest winner Dana Hooker finished second, while recruit Jade De Melo and skipper Kara Donnellan were also impressive.
