CARLTON has handed two of its most revered jumpers to its top two draft picks of 2017.

Paddy Dow, the Blues' first selection at this year's NAB AFL draft, and third selection overall, will take over the vacant No.2 locker, previously inhabited by club great John Nicholls and 1995 Norm Smith medallist Greg Williams.

Lochie O'Brien, Carlton's second pick and 10th selection overall, will wear No.4 next year, the jumper worn by premiership captain and Blues legend Stephen Kernahan when he kicked 738 goals from 251 games for the club.

Bryce Gibbs wore it most recently before he crossed to Adelaide in this year's NAB AFL Trade Period.

Former Greater Western Sydney midfielder Matthew Kennedy has taken over the No.7 guernsey from former Blue Dylan Buckley, who has ironically swapped to the Giants.

Draftees Tom De Koning (No.12), Angus Schumacher (No.19) and Jarrod Garlett (No.21) have also been given their playing numbers for next season.

Ex-Kangaroo Aaron Mullett (No.18), former Gold Coast dasher Matthew Shaw (No.37), former Cat Darcy Lang (No.16), and Matthew Lobbe (No.27) and Cameron O’Shea (No.24), who were previously at Port Adelaide together, along with Irishman Cillian McDaid (No.45) round out Carlton's newest batch of recruits.
