TAYLA Harris remains a real chance to face her former side Brisbane on Saturday night at Ikon Park after jarring her shoulder in the final seconds of last week's game.

The star forward laid a bone-crunching tackle on GWS' Renee Forth, which left her shoulder caught between the falling Forth and the ground.

Versatile Carlton tall Alison Downie said Harris trained with the main group on Tuesday night.

"It'll be great to have her and it's always fun to play against your former club," Downie said.

"She trained on Tuesday, she's had her scans and she's under the care of some of the best medical staff we have, so hopefully she'll get up for Saturday's game."

It's been an eventful start to the season for the undefeated Blues, who have lost captain Brianna Davey to a torn ACL and have also been without ill coach Damien Keeping.

Keeping has spent limited time at the club this week after spending several days in hospital last week and assistant coach Nick Rutley coached the side in Keeping's absence against GWS.

The club has confirmed that Rutley will coach again this weekend against the Lions.

"As far as we know, he's (Keeping) doing really well. He's out of hospital, just resting at home," Downie said.

"He's trying to get to the club, but I think the club is telling him he needs rest, it's really hard to keep him away from here. Nick Rutley's stepped into the spot really well, and the girls have embraced him with open arms.

"As far as we know, we're planning with Nick going ahead. If 'Damo' (Keeping) can be there, then that's just an added bonus."

Downie said inspirational skipper Davey (who is due to have surgery next week) will be difficult to replace.

"We've got a great list of girls who have missed out and would probably in any other team get a game," she said.

"It's really difficult for them to make that decision. I've got no thoughts on who it's going to be, but it'll be a collective of all of us getting together and covering that loss."

It was a thrilling draw the last time Carlton and Brisbane met, with former Blue Bianca Jakobsson kicking the game-saving goal in the last 20 seconds.

With the Lions smarting after their first home and away loss in two seasons, Downie again expects a quick, high-scoring match.

"The Lions look really good, they only just lost to the Doggies, who are also undefeated, so we're up for a really good challenge," she said.
