PORT Adelaide fans expect their refitted side to surge into the top four, avoiding the possibility of repeating last season's elimination final heartbreak.

The Power's 2017 campaign ended in the cruellest possible fashion, thanks to Eagle Luke Shuey's shot after the siren in extra time.

Determined to address their side's shortcomings in the off-season, the Power went shopping.

Tom Rockliff, Jack Watts and Steven Motlop arrived in October's NAB AFL Trade Period. Trent McKenzie and Jack Trengove followed as delisted free agents.

Port fans giving their take in AFL.com.au's pre-season survey predicted ex-Lion Rockliff would have the biggest impact of the new recruits, though former No.1 draft pick Watts also carries high expectations.

Almost 90 per cent of fans predict the Power will secure the double chance by finishing fourth or higher.

Here are the survey results, plus a selection of Port fans' responses.

What's the Power's weakest spot on the park?

Ruck. If Ryder goes down, the other sucks are fairly inexperienced. Especially because Jackson Trengrove is gone.
- Jack Toholke, Birdwood SA

Good ball use. We have players capable of winning their position everywhere but they need to use it better. Watts and Motlop should help.
- Harry Creagh, Ongerup WA

Goalkicking. The accuracy and goals per inside 50s last season was terrible.
- Daniel Mason, McIntyre Vic

It'll be a great year if ...

... we bring our second flag back to Alberton and Robbie wears Charlie.
- Brad Mos, Ellenbrook WA

... they convert inside 50s. Do that, and providing they have a good run with injuries they'll win the flag.
- Alan McBride, Parafield SA

... Dixon and Watts dominate together, and Gray and Wingard can rotate well through midfield and forward.
- Matt Bland, Holden Hill, SA

What's your dream headline in 2018?

'Charlie kicks five in Grand Final victory'
- Libby Grant, Lord Howe Island NSW

'Ollie Wines signs five-year deal to stay at Alberton until 2023'
- Nick Tyler, Adelaide SA

'Jack Watts kicks the winning goal after the siren to send Port Adelaide through to the Grand Final'
- Luke Cook, Adelaide SA

What's the headline you secretly dread?

'Crows win 2018 Premiership'
- Greg Ranger, Campbelltown, SA

'Groundhog day: Port fall after the siren in Elimination Final'
- Stephen Badger, Pasadena SA

'Ollie Wines makes move back to Vic'
- Sean Frost, Kingscote SA

'Port's recruiting strategy fails to deliver'
- William Butcher, Richmond Vic
