GREATER Western Sydney has cleared Dylan Shiel of any significant damage after a head clash with teammate Matt de Boer at training on Wednesday morning.

Shiel went down roughly 10 minutes before the end of the session after colliding with de Boer in a drill. The Giants said he was assessed on the ground as a precaution for neck damage.

He left the club's training ground with the assistance of trainers but was later cleared of concussion or any significant damage to his strapped right shoulder.

The Giants on Wednesday said there was no risk of the All Australian midfielder missing the club's round one clash against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

"He just got a stinger on the shoulder and hurt his neck a little bit," football manager Wayne Campbell told SEN.

"But he's not concussed, his shoulder is OK and his neck is OK.

"Right now I'd say he's certain (to play round one) unless something pops up.

"I've asked the doctors if he's OK and they said absolutely clear … he'll be fine."

Shiel has enjoyed an outstanding pre-season and has looked particularly dangerous when rotating forward.

The Giants announced a new three-year deal for co-captain Phil Davis on Wednesday.
