FORMER Kangaroo Sam Gibson's League-leading active games streak of 130 is over, with hamstring soreness delaying his debut for new club Adelaide.

Hugh Greenwood, who had pre-Christmas surgery on an Achilles injury, replaces Gibson in the Crows' line-up for Friday night's clash with Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Greenwood didn't fly to Melbourne with the Adelaide squad on Thursday, but the former basketballer established himself as a contested ball beast in 15 games last year.

The Crows were already reeling because of injury, with the likes of captain Taylor Walker (foot), Tom Lynch (side strain), Brad Crouch (groin), Brodie Smith (knee) and Riley Knight (ankle) sidelined.

The Bombers are unchanged, but also without a number of first-choice options, including Orazio Fantasia (knee), Travis Colyer (foot), Martin Gleeson (ankle) and Patrick Ambrose (wrist).

Geelong defender Zach Tuohy’s run of 115 straight matches is now the longest streak in the competition, although that is a long way short of fellow Irishman Jim Stynes’ record of 244.
