PORT Adelaide star Robbie Gray is looking forward to having midfield bull Sam Powell-Pepper back in the side after serving his one-game club-imposed suspension for a boozy night out.

Powell-Pepper is available for selection for Saturday night's clash with Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

The 20-year-old was banned by the club's leadership group for breaking team rules, while the incident is still under investigation by the AFL.

"We love having him out there," Gray told reporters on Tuesday.

"His contested ball work and pressure he puts on the opposition is super, so we love playing with him.

"I'm sure Kenny (coach Ken Hinkley) and the other coaches will decide whether he will play later in the week.

"He's handled it as well as he could have.

"It's been really tough with all the attention on him.

"He's copped his week suspension and he's got to move on now and get on with things."

The Power had a light session at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

Midfielder Tom Rockliff (calf) and forward Todd Marshall (concussion) will be assessed during the week.

With Powell-Pepper out, Gray starred in a midfield role in the Power's 22-point loss to Essendon last Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

The three-time Power best and fairest was outstanding with 39 disposals, but he could revert to playing forward against the Cats.

"It changes within games and week to week depending on how games are going," Gray said.

"We tend to mix it up a bit."

One of the few blunders Gray made was passing up a shot at goal and instead handing it off to teammate Jared Polec, who missed.

"If I had my time again, I'd probably go back and kick it," Gray said.

"We'll move on and hopefully he kicks it if I give him any more in the future.

"If he kicks it, then we wouldn't be talking about it now."

Gray underwent chemotherapy after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in October last year.

That led to him having an interrupted pre-season, but after serving a one-game suspension that forced him to miss round one for a hit on Jeremy McGovern in the JLT Series, he's back to his best.

"I'm feeling really good," the 30-year-old said.

"I was a bit limited until Christmas. Since then I've been in full training and feeling as fit as ever and the body's feeling really good.

"It's good to be back playing footy and getting back into things."
