GOLD Coast coach Stuart Dew has made a big statement at the selection table, dropping star midfielder Aaron Hall and reliable defender Kade Kolodjashnij for Sunday's QClash against Brisbane at the Gabba.

The newly appointed coach has made the daring decision to axe two of the Suns' key players following the club's 80-point belting at the hands of West Coast last weekend.

Midfielders Matt Rosa and Jesse Lonergan are the replacements for the important Suns duo, but there is still no room for Michael Barlow.

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has also not shied away from making a bold call at selection, axing Rohan Bewick and Josh Walker after the Lions' 93-point capitulation to Richmond.

The pair join the omitted Sam Mayes and Rhys Mathieson out of the side, which was confirmed on Thursday.

Dan McStay, Ryan Bastinac, Ryan Lester and Jacob Allison come into the team.

For Allison and Bastinac, it will be their first senior appearances of the year.

Meanwhile, West Coast speedster Lewis Jetta has been withdrawn from the team for Saturday's clash against Carlton with general soreness.

Young Eagle Tom Cole replaces Jetta in the selected side, with Brayden Ainsworth upgraded to an emergency player.

Hawthorn has recalled star youngster Ryan Burton for Sunday's game against North Melbourne after just a one-week stint in the VFL.

Burton, who dealt with an ankle injury early in the season, will join rookie James Cousins in the team to face the Roos.

Burton and Cousins replace Cyril Rioli (knee) and Paul Puopolo (hamstring), who will be sidelined for up to six weeks with their respective injuries.

Top draft selection Luke Davies-Uniacke has been rested by North Melbourne after playing the first four matches of the season.

Big-bodied forward/midfielder Cameron Zurhaar will play his first game of the year for the Roos, adding to the four he played at the end of 2017.

The teams for Tuesday night's Melbourne v Richmond clash and the Anzac Day blockbuster between Collingwood and Essendon will be announced on Monday.
