A QUARTET of Collingwood players has signed new contracts with the club, including key forward Ben Reid and first-round draftee Jaidyn Stephenson.

Reid, 29, has committed to the club until the end of next season, as have big-bodied midfielder Brayden Sier and ruckman Max Lynch.

Stephenson, who was taken at pick six last year, has added an extra two seasons to his deal, which sees the speedster extend his stay until the end of 2021.

RISING STAR Who's in the running so far this season?

"Ben has a role to play in the team that everyone – teammates and coaching staff in particular – recognises. His game sense and forward craft help the attack tick," Magpies list manager Ned Guy told collingwoodfc.com.au.

"He also has experience to pass on to the likes of Jaidyn, who is starting out on his football journey.

"Ideally, we have young players like Jaidyn, Max and Brayden come through the Collingwood system with guidance from seasoned teammates and premiership players like Ben, Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom."

Stephenson was nominated for the NAB Rising Star Award after his brilliant five-goal performance against Adelaide in round four that helped the Magpies leave South Australia with an upset victory.

A heart irregularity was noticed by clubs in the lead-up to the 2017 NAB AFL Draft but that hasn't affected the explosive forward, who has played every game and slotted 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Reid is likely to overcome an Achilles complaint to return for Friday night's clash against the Western Bulldogs, assuming he trains as expected on Wednesday.

Sier is pushing to make his senior debut after racking up 35 disposals and eight clearances against Coburg in the VFL last Saturday.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley told AFL.com.au Sier "saved his career" in the back half of last year after improving his professionalism.

Lynch, 19, is recovering from an ankle injury and recently started running.
