A SMATTERING of father-son prospects will be on show on Sunday when Vic Metro takes on Western Australia in Perth for the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

The home side, coming off an 89-point drubbing to South Australia last week, faces a challenge against the highly rated Victorian outfit which will be opening its carnival in the Optus Stadium clash.

There are familiar names on both sides. Carlton recruiters will be closely watching Wil Hickmott, the son of former Blue Adrian, who has been impressive on a wing for Western Australia, while Ben Silvagni, son of current Blues list manager Stephen, will line up at full-back for Metro.

Collingwood has first call on Vic Metro defender Will Kelly, the son of former player Craig.

Brisbane can pick former Fitzroy big man Matt Rendell's son, James, as a father-son and his improvement across this year as a key forward has caught the eye, while the Bulldogs have access to dogged midfielder Rhylee West, the son of former onballer Scott, under the rules.

Metro has picked a strong squad, including talented half-back Isaac Quaynor, exciting half-forward Curtis Taylor, in-form midfielder Bailey Smith and athletic big man Ben King.

The game will start at 11.30am AWST as a curtain raiser to Sunday's Fremantle and Adelaide contest.
