Match Review statement: round 17, part three

The AFL advises it has completed the Match Review of the Saturday / Sunday round 17 matches. Please find below the charges laid and also those matters that were explained in detail.

Charges Laid:

Jaeger O’Meara, Hawthorn, has been charged with misconduct against Mitch Robinson, Brisbane Lions, during the second quarter of the Round 17 match between Hawthorn and the Brisbane Lions, played at UTas Stadium on Saturday July 14, 2018.

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Other Incidents

Contact between the Sydney Swans’ Ben Ronke and North Melbourne’s Trent Dumont from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball was loose with both players coming from opposite directions. Ronke has his hands out in front of him and reaches the ball fractionally before Dumont, before making high contact to the North Melbourne player. A free kick was paid to Dumont. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Ronke was contesting the ball and the high contact was dealt with at the time with a free kick paid. No further action was taken.
