IT'S ODD to consider the reigning Brownlow medallist is flying under the radar to go back-to-back.

That's the case for Richmond superstar Dustin Martin though, and according to the AFL.com.au Brownlow predictor, he's a real chance to take 'Charlie' home again.

Three share the lead on 21 votes with two matches remaining: prolific Hawthorn ball-winner Tom Mitchell, big-bodied Carlton onballer Patrick Cripps and West Coast star Elliot Yeo.

Next is ineligible Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe on 20, who can't win after he was handed a one-game suspension for striking Collingwood hard nut Levi Greenwood in round 11.

Then on 19 is Martin.

The powerful Tiger might have gone undersold because he hasn't reached the heights of last year, when he put together a campaign many argued was the greatest in history.

He may have dropped off in 2018 but his numbers are still incredibly impressive. Martin is averaging 25 disposals and 1.3 goals per match.

The onballer is ranked No.1 in the competition for total inside-50s and total score involvements, No.2 for total centre clearances and No.7 for total goal assists.

Furthermore, he's a proven favourite of the umpires, having notched up tallies of 36, 25 and 21 votes over the past three seasons.

Considering the low totals expected atop the leaderboard, the race could be wide open, despite BetEasy having Mitchell as the raging favourite at $1.30 as of Thursday afternoon.

Martin was on the sixth line of betting with the bookmaker at $26.
