Fev was an awesome player, and has done a lot for us over his career, but we got rid of him in the middle of a sexual harrassment scandal, something I'd rather my club didn't get involved in. we now have a ridiculously young list that STILL has the potential to go top 4 next year with Murph, Gibbs, Kreuze and juddy who are all still on the up and up...writing them off before the season even starts is just plain stupid..i reckon the way all our young players (joseph, Bower, Russell) developed last year indicated that we are far from being a pushover team in 2010 .. The original trade, as advertised, was WAY too expensive. Braddo and Risky have demonstrated their loyalty and value to the Lions, and both are too good to let go.

Fev, on the other hand, now knows just how much he is worth. A youngster (albeit a really good one+12th pick=Fev+27th pick. Maybe this will humble him. I hope so.

To the Carlton fans: Fev may have won the Coleman, but it was the rest of your club's team that delivered the ball to him. Don't lose faith in the rest of the Blues. They have a truckload of talent.

Biggest and most disturbing mistake ever!!!Carlton without Fev and Fev without Carlton just dont go. Yes, we are a team and not all about Fev, but he was our superstar, the fans loved him and he was the best forward in the comp. Well done Sticks for having the guts to see what was best for Fev (still a life member of the club, who will be welcome anytime he comes back) and the club - we'll be fine. To all the so-called Blues' fans, what I have read is quite disturbing, how about welcoming this kid and stop bagging him before he has even had a chance to prove himself. Good job Carlton, great trade! The carlton young guns doesn't need fev on the team. What a bad role model: selfish, wants the ball to go to him ALL the time, a person who sexually asaults people(should be in jail, but oh no... its fev.. u cant do that), and the list goes on and on and on. Look at the children who look up to him, and they try to do what he does. Their parents should be grateful that he is gone. Enjoy the national draft this year okay because you will get some good picks in coming years with all those spoons heading your way. Get prepared to hear this....Bradshaw takes it at half back, kicks to Rich, Rich runs and handballs to Black who kicks it to Fev at half forward, Fev to Brown in the square for his fifth goal assist tonight. Its all too easy. Beautiful ring to it hey? Carlton = gone. Go the Lions in 2010!!

Has anyone actually seen Henderson play? You should, because he is really talented. Carlton fans should know better than others that trading for ageing or bit part players just doesn't work, eg.mcguane, mansfied, o'reilly, morrell etc etc. Remember Pagan standing around the 5 or 6 players he traded in one year and everybody thought he has done well here - a year or two later they were all gone and our future was in ruins. Finally we have learnt the lessons of history and gone for a young bloke who will be a gun when given his chance.



The reality was that Carlton's forward line as a team just wasn't that good because it was so Fev focused - even if he had stayed it would have required a major restructure to try and devise a less predictable plan.

i cant believe half of this stuff being written. the one thing i do know, is that everybody seems to be talking about years down the track,to a degree, if we are worrying about then, what are we really doing now!i want to win now! and right now, i'd rather be a lion than a blue. if the lions produce enough service to the forwards they are going to be a huge force and are hard defensive matchup. the blues without fevola will have a great midfield group, but will lack targets, and some players mentioned should/would be lucky to get a game, let alone kick 30 odd goals a year.don't tear up your tickets, go and support your team, but let them know, to live today, not a vision from a crystal ball.

I loved Fev at the Blues but when I heard that his preferred club to go to was the Pies it reminded me how bad his selfish side really is ... no True Blue wants to help that lot win anything! Biggest winner in all this might be Mick Malthouse or Paul Roos ... if Carlton slips too far next season Ratten will get smashed and Malthouse or Roos would be obvious choice to coach young list.

I have been a Carlton member since 2002. I have put up with disgraceful performance after disgraceful performance and sat through game after woeful game. This year finally it was actually a bit enjoyable to go and watch the Blues play but now we are stuffed. We took a step forward and now we are taking 10 steps back with out Fev we have no forward line this is a woeful, disgraceful trade and both Ratten and Kernahan once my favourite players at the club should hang their respective heads in shame. I would not let them pay me $1000 dollars to become a member next year, I have had enough I am done with caring about the Blues anymore.

Interesting! Now all Lions need is a quality small forward to sit at the feet of two of the best big guys. Hey... a guy called Nathan G Brown is looking for a club in 2010? Think about it Vossy..

Fev was a great forward and I agree he's a big loss. But I always thought our forward line was too "Fev" focused often to our disadvantage. I'm worried but have faith and am prepard to back those with more knowledge about the reasons why. Kernahan always does whats best for the club. I trust his judgement.

I find it hard to believe that Carlton had to trade pick 27 as well as Fev for henderson and pick 12. Brendan Fevola - you have single-handledly embarrassed and humilated your club and fans that made you. It's always been about you. Well mate you are now someone else problem.

Carlton fans need to see the positives out of this. Sure it's disappointing to lose Fev but he has probably reached his peak and in my opinion has maybe 2 good years left before the decline. Take a look at Lloyd at Essendon for an example. We on the other hand get a potential 10year player in Henderson who could well develop into a key forward or back plus we are now back in the 1st round of the national draft so we have the chance to pick up another good 10 year prospect. people saying where are the goals going to come from should remember the games when Fev only contributed a few but we still managed to kick a big score and we always went to him as our main target. I can see Kreuze developing into a great forward now that Fev is gone and we will have Warnock and Hampson to share the ruck duties.

You dont need a one out full forward to win a premiership. Think of the Eagles from 2006, whom was there full forward? Have a think about whom was there captain?

The Blues will have:
Henderson, Cloke, Kruezer, Waite, O'Halipan, Fisher.. PLenty of possibilities.
They dont need to kick 90 goals like Fev did because we wont be kicking to one player 70% of the time like we did with Fev. It'l be a spread in the forward line. Atleast Henderson, Krue, Waite, Murphy, Betts, Yarran, will all kick 30+ Goals. And thats all we need. Not 90 goals from one player.

Worst trade ever. How will we benefit from this. Fevola was our main option up forward and we get nothing in return. What a joke? He kicked 89 goals this season, the next best was Betts with 37. i wish all my fellow carltonfans would get over it, carlton finally got sick of the fev show and he was going to be traded no matter what. there is only so much you can put up with and his brownlow antics were the final straw. given what else was on offer we didnt do too badly considering he was going to go NO MATTER WHAT. word will come out now the trade is done as to the full extent of his recent poor behaviour. i loved fev the player, but this was a move by the club - not the playing group. The took a stand when they suspended those 3 for missing a training session that they were not a joke any more and fev toed the line one time too often and was shown the door. Just trust the club, at least its a better deal than old bradshaw and not required rischitelli (spelling?). we'l be alright

look at it this way, fev is the best full forward by the length of the yarra. why trade him.
who cares what he does off-field. he chooses to be a fool off the field, well that's his problem. but if carlton wanted to hav a crack at a flag in the next few years, then fevola needed to be at full forward. they haven't got anyone else. cameron cloke is the biggest gumbie in the AFL and they give him the full forward post because he gets goals in the vfl as in the afl where the speed is miles quicker.

Appaling trade. How can you trade the coleman medalist & a draft pick for a slightly higher pick & a relatively unproven player. Especially considering what was on the table yesterday this is a huge step backward. As a Carlton supporter I cannot see us playing finals next year with no real marking target in our forward line!!!!

Worst trade in the history of Carlton, possibly even the game. Carlton gives away the best forward in the competition, the coleman medalist and gets what? A draft pick and some 'promising' player nobody's ever heard of cos he's only played 15 games (no offence to Henderson, but he's just no Fevola). Awesome work management, we took so many steps forward this year and now we're going backwards again. I am so sick of having to watch my team fight it out to stay off the bottom of the ladder. I will renew my membership because I love this team and I always have, but I have never been more disappointed in them and their decisions. This was not for the benefit of the club, this was for the benefit of the sponsors and the board members who found him embaressing. Truly disgusted.

Blues got a pretty good deal; Henderson is highly rated and they got pick 12 as well.

i don't care fevola left,
infact im overjoyed. i've wanted him gone for the last 5 years. i'm not a member who is leaving the club because they made a good decision for our future.
and next year we have Waite back in. and he kicks a lot of goals even when he plays up back.
and we have yarran and garlett who are both forwards they just need to build their confidence up.

It had to come to this. Carlton is so close to the salary cap that most people believe that they are, again, rorting the system. Taking Fev off the books allows them some breathing space.

I am surprised Carlton excepted this deal as now they will struggle to find a serious goal kicker for quite a few years before Henderson develops.

lockett never got sydney a flag, ablett senior never got geelong a flag. fevola was never gonna get carlton a flag... midfielders win you premierships. carltons midfield will be the best in the comp for years to come. as long as a few unknown players step up and do half decent up forward thats all we need. the eagles had no forward in '05 and '06.. we'll be fine.

As a Lions fan I was against Fev coming at the expense of Daniel Bradshaw, who in my opinion outplays the great Jonathon Brown almost every week-but for some reason the media do not give him the accolades he deserves. As long as Daniel stays and also Michael-who is a great young player also I am a happy Lions fan. Honestly what were they and Vossy thinking?

For you people who dont know Henderson, he is a great mark and can play forward and back, he is 196cm tall, 19 yrs old and has been compared to Pavlich and Brown.

interesting move. people are already saying brissy for premiers next yr but don't be so sure. it was only recently that st kilda had three power fwds in gerhig, riewoldt and kozi, but that fwd line didn't win a flag. it certainly will be interesting to see if the three of them can work together... or at least two of them with one up the ground or down back.

I think Brisbane will be paying some of Fev's contract, but as he was supposed to earn 900K in 2011 we'll be paying Brisbane an annual amount, effectively partially paying Fev's wage.
