The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has laid the following charges from the weekend's round of matches.

Charges Laid:

Shane O'Bree, Collingwood, has been charged with a First Offence for abusive language for abusing the emergency umpires during the fourth quarter of the Round Two NAB Cup match between Collingwood and Richmond, played at Telstra Dome on Thursday February 26, 2009.

In summary, he can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for abusive language is a $1200 sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a $900 sanction.

Other Incidents Assessed:

The match day report laid against Port Adelaide's Danny Meyer for bumping or making forceful contact from front-on against Geelong's David Johnson from the first quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. It was the view of the panel that minimal contact was made by Meyer's legs to the back of Johnson's head as the Port player rolled over the top of Johnson as the Geelong player dived forward on to the ball. There was no forceful high contact made and no further action was taken.

Contact between Hawthorn's Simon Taylor and Carlton's Marc Murphy from the first quarter of Sunday's game was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Taylor's action was not a striking motion but a pushing motion. No further action was required.

Contact between Carlton's Jarrad Waite and Hawthorn's Josh Kennedy from the third quarter of Sunday's game was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Waite's tackling action on the Hawthorn player was one continuous motion to take him to the ground, and was not two separate actions. The Hawthorn player was in possession of the ball when the tackle was commenced, it was determined that no further action was required.

Contact between Hawthorn's Jarryd Roughead and Carlton's Nick Stevens from the third quarter of Sunday's game was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Roughead's action was a block, to prevent the Carlton player from running on to the next contest. No high contact was made. No further action was taken.
