Get set for another night of thrills and spills as Victoria takes on the All Stars in the 2009 Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game on Tuesday, 30th June.
See Australia's footballing greats return to the ground for one more shot at glory, one more chance to 'stick it right up 'em' in honour of the late Ted Whitten. Now in its fourteenth year, The EJ Whitten Legends Game has raised nearly $900,000 for the EJ Whitten Foundation in aid of Prostate Cancer research and awareness in support of men’s health.
This year 19 ‘rookies’ will make their debut, including Glenn Archer, Robert Harvey, Phil Matera, Anthony Koutoufides, Damien Peverill, Adam Ramanauskas and Tony Modra. They will join seasoned Legends players such as Martin Pike, Scott Cummings, Damian Monkhurst, Gavin Wanganeen and Wayne Schwass, in a feast of football entertainment.
Celebrity Blair McDonough from Postcards and Sea Patrol is set to play for the All Stars while popular radio duo, Hamish and Andy will again line up against in each other. Last year Hamish took the honours representing the All Stars and in 2009 Andy will be out to level the score.
Chris Connolly will join the Legends Game for the second year as the coach for Victoria, with Neil Balme coaching the All Stars for the first time. Mark Ricciuto will captain the All Stars with fellow rookie Glenn Archer to take the role of captain for the Big V.
Also making an appearance will be our guest runners, including Richmond’s Nathan Brown and Russell Gilbert for the All Stars and Dr. Peter Larkins and Carlton Star Brendan Fevola for Victoria.
Closer to the game, two amateur players will be selected to take part in the game as part of our highly successful ‘Play in the Game’ feature. Hand-picked by the coaches, they’ll have the opportunity to be a ‘legend for a night’ and play alongside their football heroes.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the gate on the night.
