FREMANTLE skipper Matthew Pavlich has been forced out of Saturday's clash against Collingwood with a calf injury.

Pavlich, 27, limped to the bench as Leigh Brown booted the Magpies' seventh goal of the game two and a half minutes into the second quarter at the MCG.

Club physios worked on his right calf briefly before he donned a tracksuit top and retired to the second row of the interchange bench with the muscle heavily iced.

Shannon Cox had the job on Pavlich before he left the game and did well to restrict to just four possessions and a goal.

Fremantle suffered another blow when Steven Dodd was carried from the field early in the third quarter after being cleaned up by teammate Dean Solomon's hip, reducing their numbers to 20.
