BRISBANE LIONS defender Jed Adcock and Adelaide onballer Michael Doughty are free to play the opening round of 2010 after the AFL's match review panel took no further action on strong tackles laid by the pair during last weekend's semi-finals.

Adcock's tackle of former teammate Jason Akermanis in the second quarter of Friday's 51-point win by the Western Bulldogs over the Lions was assessed by the panel, who deemed that Akermanis had possession of the ball when Adcock laid the tackle, and that Adcock's tackle was not unreasonable as he would not have seen the ball spill free.

Similarly, Doughty's tackle on Collingwood onballer Alan Didak in the first term of Saturday's five-point win by the Magpies over the Crows was not considered unreasonable as the ball spilled free as Doughty tackled Didak.
