WEST Coast midfielder Daniel Kerr could be back to his best form after an uninterrupted pre-season according to captain Darren Glass.

Kerr has battled with injury over the past two seasons but Glass said all signs over summer were indicating a return to form.

“Kerry has had quite a horror run with injuries and suspensions and all sorts of things holding him back from playing good consistent footy,” Glass said after training on Monday.

“But he’s up and going this year and he looks pretty sharp on the track.”

Kerr finished in the top three in the Brownlow Medal for three years straight from 2005-07 but has struggled to recapture his best form since the departure of fellow midfielders Ben Cousins and Chris Judd at the end of 2007.

Kerr is one of many Eagles returning from an injury-plagued 2009 season. Ruckman Dean Cox missed the final third of the season with a groin complaint and had another setback with an abdominal strain before Christmas.

“He (Cox) was always going to come back underdone. He had the groin issues last year. He was going to be able to do nothing in the off-season. It was always going to be the case he would come back not in the best shape of his career,” Glass said.

But Glass said the club's medical team was ensuring a swift return for all the winged Eagles.

“Most of our injured guys are tracking along as planned," Glass said. "Coxy had a setback a while ago, Kerry is going along as planned, Beau Waters is as well.

"We are looking pretty good and Woosha’s philosophy is all about getting ready for round one."

The Eagles have expanded their leadership group for 2010 with Waters, Adam Selwood, Matt Priddis, Josh Kennedy and Shannon Hurn joining Cox as vice-captains under Glass.

The All-Australian full-back is entering his third year as skipper and said he was mindful of passing the baton on before too long.

“I just want to play good footy this year and the end can come pretty quickly," Glass said. "Hopefully I’ve got a couple of good years left and I’ve always thought that I would like to pass the captaincy on before my career ends but we’ll have to wait and see."

Glass said he expected his successor to come from the latest batch of vice-captains.
