MELBOURNE'S Liam Jurrah is set to make his long-awaited return from injury in the VFL this week.

Jurrah will line up for the Casey Scorpions against Williamstown this week in his first match since injuring his shoulder against Adelaide in the NAB Challenge.

After kicking 20 goals from nine games in his debut season last year, Jurrah quickly established himself as a Melbourne fan favourite and was much-hyped in the lead up to this season as an integral part of the Demons’ forward line.

Football operations manager Chris Connolly said the Demons were yet to decide on whether Jurrah would line up for Casey’s senior team or the reserves.

“We’ve been very conservative with his rehab,” Connolly told melbournefc.com.au.

“He’ll play on the weekend, whether he plays seniors or reserves, I’m not sure. That decision will be made later on, but the club is absolutely rapt to have him back playing.”

Connolly praised the 21-year-old for his dedication to full injury rehabilitation and said the club was looking to get him into the senior side soon.

“He’s conducted himself really well, he hasn’t missed a beat and we expect him to jump straight into football pretty efficiently,” Connolly said.

“The team’s in good form at senior level and he’d probably play a good month at Casey... then we’ll just see how he’s going to consider senior selection.

"We’d love to have him play some senior football before the end of the season but at the moment it’s a week to week proposition.”
