PORT Adelaide vice-captain Jacob Surjan will be sidelined for two to three weeks after having minor surgery on his right knee.

Surjan has been unable to train during the week for the past fortnight because of swelling in his knee, prompting the club’s decision to book the 24-year-old in for surgery.

The arthroscope cleared the dour defender of structural damage and the timing of the operation, with the mid-season break means he could miss just one game.

The West Australian has been one of the Power’s most consistent contributors this season.

He held in-form North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas to one goal when the two sides met last weekend and also kept St Kilda goalsneak Steven Milne to one major at AAMI Stadium earlier this season.

Port Adelaide is hopeful the weekend off will allow Brett Ebert (ankle), Steven Salopek (shoulder), Robbie Gray (hamstring) and Hamish Hartlett (quad) to be fit for the club’s clash with Fremantle at Subiaco on Saturday, July 3.
