Maric moves in three-way deal

By Mark Macgugan 2:13 PM Fri 14 October, 2011

A THREE-WAY trade between Richmond, Adelaide and St Kilda has been completed with Ivan Maric now a Tiger and Tom Lynch a Crow.

The Saints received NAB AFL Draft pick 37.

Maric has been pushing for a move to Richmond and the deal finally came through for the 25-year-old, who has played 77 games for the Crows over six seasons.

A big body at 200cm and 102kg, Maric provides the Tigers with much-needed support in the ruck for Angus Graham and Andrew Browne.

"We were keen to bolster our ruck stocks with a more experienced big man and believe Ivan really suits our needs," said Richmond’s football manager Craig Cameron.

McConville's men on outer

By Mark Macgugan 2:04 PM Thu 13 October, 2011

COLLINGWOOD premiership player Brent Macaffer is relying on Alan Toovey being traded if he's to continue his career at the Magpies.

Just a year after playing in the winning 2010 Grand Final team, Macaffer has been told there's no room for him in Collingwood's bulging salary cap, according to his manager Anthony McConville.

McConville says the possible departure of disgruntled Toovey - whose pay demands have not been met by the Magpies for similar reasons - is the only way his 23-year-old client could stay put.

In the meantime, he's exploring other options.

Deal done: Morris to Tigers

By Jennifer Witham 4:21 PM Mon 10 October, 2011

THE FIRST deal of trade week has been struck with Greater Western Sydney agreeing to a deal with Richmond that will see West Adelaide defender Steven Morris in the yellow and black in 2012.

Morris, 22, is the son of former Richmond player Kevin and has nominated for the national draft in previous years.

Therefore, the Giants have been able to pre-list him as part of their list establishment rules, and have traded him to the Tigers - with their first round draft selection (No.15) - for Richmond's No.14 pick.

Morris, a former Western Jet, was granted permission to train with the Tigers in late August as a potential father-son recruit.

Trade week: left at the gates

By staff reporters 5:03 PM Mon 11 October, 2010

ADELAIDE
The Crows were strongly linked to Carlton's Andrew Walker but no deal could be struck.

BRISBANE LIONS
West Australian natives Mitch Clark and Daniel Rich were linked with moves back home but nothing came from that and both should continue with the Lions next year.

CARLTON
Andrew Walker didn't get the clean slate he was after. Adelaide, Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs all expressed varying levels of interest, but he was left at the altar each time. Bret Thornton and Setanta O'hAilpin were also hoping to reignite their careers elsewhere, but couldn't find new homes.

Bombers couldn't match Houli offer

By Jennifer Witham and Nathan Schmook 4:20 PM Mon 11 October, 2010

ESSENDON says it was unable to match the significant contract offer Richmond put to midfielder Bachar Houli and the Bombers now appear certain to lose the 22-year-old for nothing.

Houli will attempt to make his way to Punt Road via either the NAB AFL Draft or the pre-season draft after the Bombers and Tigers failed to negotiate a suitable exchange during trade week.

Essendon football manager Paul Hamilton said Houli had indicated he intends to leave Essendon with the Tigers offering him more than the Bombers "could or would".

"Bachar has made it very clear that he wants to leave and I know there has been a lot of conjecture as to why," Hamilton told essendonfc.com.au.

Trade winds: Tarrant in limbo on a busy Blue day

By Michael Rogers 8:07 AM Mon 11 October, 2010

A STALEMATE between Fremantle and Collingwood over Chris Tarrant looms as the key deal on the last day of trade week, which concludes at 2pm on Monday.

Fremantle is looking for a NAB AFL Draft selection inside the top 50 for defender Tarrant, who is set on a move to Collingwood. However, The Age reported that the Magpies' pick 55, which was obtained from Freo as part of the Andrew Krakouer deal, could form part of an acceptable exchange.

The Herald Sun has a different take on the impasse, reporting that Fremantle wants Collingwood's second-round pick but the Magpies will only give up their fourth-rounder.

Both Melbourne papers report that Carlton looks set to be active on the final day trading.

Tigers, Blues swap Collins, Grigg

By Tim Roman 5:33 PM Sat 09 October, 2010

SHAUN Grigg has finally completed his desired move to Richmond, joining the Tigers on Saturday afternoon in a straight swap for Andrew Collins.

The 22-year-old midfielder had informed the Blues of his wish to join Richmond but Carlton officials had hoped to persuade him to remain.

Under the deal Collins, also 22, will move to Visy Park.

Collins was drafted by Richmond at pick 73 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft. The Blues took Grigg at pick 19 in the same year.

Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron, said the Tigers were delighted to have secured Grigg after some days of negotiation.

"We believe Shaun will be a good fit for our side," he said.

Where your club stands

By Michael Rogers, Ben Broad, Jason Phelan and Nathan Schmook 2:01 PM Sat 09 October, 2010

ADELAIDE
Trades confirmed:
Richard Tambling (Richmond) for Adelaide's end-of-first round compensation for losing Nathan Bock, and a third-round draft selection (No.50).
On the table: Jon Griffin is seeking a return home to Western Australia to be closer to his ill father and the Crows are confident they can get a deal done with Fremantle.
Targets: Carlton ruckman Sam Jacobs has requested a trade to Adelaide but the Blues are playing hardball, demanding a first-round draft pick for the uncontracted South Australian. Jacobs has indicated he'll go into the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft if an agreement between the two clubs can't be reached in the exchange period.
