Behind
When a player kicks a behind.

Bounce
When a player takes a running bounce while in the course of play.

Clanger
When a player kicks or handballs directly to an opponent who either takes an uncontested mark or looseball-get. Includes all set kicks that are smothered, regardless of whether the team maintains possession of the ball.

Clearance
Credited to the player who has the first effective disposal in a chain that clears the stoppage area, or an ineffective kick or handball or clanger kick that clears the stoppage area.

Contested Mark
When a player takes a mark under physical pressure of an opponent or in a pack.

Contested Possessions
The sum of hardball-gets, looseball-gets, contested marks, contested knock-on, gathers from hit-outs and frees for (excluding frees before the bounce and frees off the ball).

Disposals
The sum of kicks and handballs.

Disposal Efficiency Percentage
The total effective disposals divided by total disposals.  Effective disposals are made up of effective long kicks, effective short kicks and effective handballs. An effective long kick is one that is 40 metres to a 50/50 or better for the team. An effective short kick is one that results in a teammate's possession who was the intended target of the kicker. A handball to a teammate that hits the intended target to the team's advantage is recorded as an effective handball.

Free Against
A possession awarded to the opposition as a result of an infringement by a player.

Free For
A possession of the ball given to a player as a result of an infringement by an opposition player, awarded by the umpire.

Games
The number of matches a player has appeared in.

Goal
When a player kicks a goal.

Goal Accuracy Percentage
Total goals divided by total scoring shots, where total scoring shots includes goals and behinds.  Goal accuracy does not take into consideration shots that go out on the full.

Goal Assist
Awarded to a player who creates a goal by getting the ball to a teammate in a scoring position.

Handball
When a player disposes of the ball by hand. It must be clear that that player made contact with the ball with his fist and that the ball was not jarred out from the force of a tackle.

Hit-out
Where clear control was evident from a player contesting a ruck contest, regardless of which side cleared the contest.

Inside 50m
When the ball travels into a team's attacking zone. This is denoted by the 50m arcs on the playing arena.

Kick
When a player disposes of the ball by foot.

Mark
When a player wins possession of the ball from a kick that hasn't hit the ground.

Mark inside 50
When a player wins possession of the ball from a kick that hasn't hit the ground in a team's attacking zone. This is denoted by the 50m arcs on the playing arena.

One Percenter
 A defensive act such as a block, bump, shepherd, smother or chase.

Rebound 50m
When the ball travels from a team's defensive zone. This is denoted by the 50m arcs on the playing arena.

Tackle
When a player stops an opposition player with possession of the ball from getting his kick or handball away in a legal manner, or reduces the effectiveness of the opposition's disposal. The tackler's action must change the course of play.

Time on ground %
The amount of time a player has spent on the field (that is, not on the interchange) expressed as a percentage.

Uncontested Possessions
The sum of uncontested marks, handball-receives, intended ball gets (gathers), frees before the bounce and off the ball free-kicks.

USING THE STATS SECTION:




Users can view stats for Teams, Players and Careers by toggling between the three different tabs.

Team Stats:
  • Team stats can be filtered by season, round and match. 
  • Clicking on the club name will display the 22 players for that team and match.
Player Stats:
  • Stats can be filtered by season, round, match, team and players
  • Multiple players can be entered into the search field so that they can be viewed against each other.
Career Stats:
  • Career stats are only available for current AFL players and players who started their AFL careers in 1999 or later.
  • Where a player has not played a senior AFL game in a given year that year is not recorded in their career stats.
  • Player stats prior to 1999 are limited, averages for these types of stats are indicated in grey.
  • Clicking on the + sign next to a year will expand the view to show each round for that year.
General:
  • Users can sort stats (ascending to descending) by clicking on the triangle above the particular stats column.
  • The highest stat for a particular category is indicated in blue text.
  • Users can change their filter by going to "More stats" and changing the default view, by adding and removing stats.  The user defined selection will be remembered when next you access this page.
