How it Works

The AFL and Origin are giving you the opportunity to have your say on the weekly winners of the 2012 Origin Goal of the Year Award.

Each week the best three goals from the completed round will be selected by the AFL Panel and placed on the AFL Origin Goal of the Year website by 7pm on Monday (or the day after the last game of the round). Viewers can visit the website to vote for their favourite Origin Goal of the Week. Voting will close at 12pm the following Monday.

All voters who enter their details for the weekly Minor Round prize will go into the draw to win one of five $50 EFTPOS gift cards.

In the event that voters select a goal differently to the AFL panel, that goal will also be included for consideration for the 2012 Origin Goal of the Year Major Round..

Win the Ultimate Grand Final Prize Pack – Major Round

At the conclusion of the Home and Away Season, the All Australian Selection Committee shall select the 3 best goals from the 24 weekly selections chosen by the AFL panel and any public selections that differ from the AFL panel. The selection will be based on a 5/4/3/2/1 vote given by each member of the selection committee.

The top three selections for the Origin Goal of the Year Major Round will be announced on September 10th 2012, via afl.com.au.

All three nominations will then be placed on the AFL Origin Goal of the Year website by 7pm on Monday the 10th of September where viewers are encouraged to vote for their ultimate Origin Goal of the Year. Voting will open at Monday 10th September and close the following Monday, 17th September.

All votes entered into the Major Round will go into the draw to win the ultimate Toyota AFL Grand Final Prize Pack valued at $5,000 Recommended Retail Price, plus a year’s worth of electricity from Origin (up to the value of $3,000). The Toyota AFL Grand Final Prize Pack includes two tickets to the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final and Centre Square, two night’s accommodation, dinner for two and a $500 travel voucher. Entrants will also receive one (1) additional entry in the Major Round for each valid entry they submit in a Minor Round subject to the Terms and Conditions of Entry.

When is voting open

Voting for the Origin Goal of the Week opens on 7pm each Monday, and will close the following Monday at 12pm (please refer to the Terms and Conditions for specific dates).

The winning goal for each round will be announced on the website on the Tuesday along with next week’s nominations.

Voting for the Origin Goal of the Year opens on Monday 10th September and closes the following Monday, 17th September.

Terms & Conditions

“ORIGIN AFL GOAL OF THE YEAR COMPETITION”

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Conditions of Entry (Conditions of Entry).

2. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.

3. The Eligible Entrant is responsible for ensuring his or her familiarity with the Conditions of Entry at the time of participation. The Promoter’s decision not to enforce a specific restriction (whether communicated to an Eligible Entrant or not) does not constitute a waiver of that restriction or of the Conditions of Entry generally.

4. All Eligible Entrants acknowledge that the Promoter can rely on these Conditions of Entry even if the Promoter only learns of a person’s ineligibility after the Promoter has awarded a prize to the ineligible person. Return of the prize or payment of its equivalent value to the Promoter may be required by the Promoter if this occurs.

5. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspect of these Conditions of Entry and the Promotion is final and binding on every person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into.

7. All prices stated are in Australian dollars and include GST. All references to times and dates are to times and dates in Melbourne. All times are stated using the 24 hour clock.

PROMOTION PERIOD

8. The Promotion will commence 19:00 AEST on 2/04/12 and run until 12:00 (noon) AEST on 17/09/12 (Promotion Period).

9. Entry in the Promotion is only open to Australian residents who can take the applicable elements of the Major Prize to coincide with the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final and who are: aged 18 years and over; or aged under 18 years, who have obtained their parent or guardian's consent to enter the Promotion on these Conditions of Entry and whose parent or guardian have agreed to these Conditions of Entry, excluding: (a) management, employees, directors and contractors of the Promoter, its related entities and other agencies, firms or companies associated with the Promotion (including suppliers of prizes); (b) a spouse, de-facto spouse, parent, guardian, child or sibling of a person referred to in paragraph (a) above; (c) persons who have been discovered to have used or attempted to use any more than one name in order to qualify to win any contest run by the Promoter except in the case of a legal change of name; and (d) persons who have breached the terms and conditions of any promotion run by or on behalf of the Promoter,

(Eligible Entrants). The persons referred to in paragraph (b) above includes natural and non-natural relations (in the opinion of the Promoter) and the Promoter is responsible for determining whether a person is an Eligible Entrant in its absolute discretion.

HOW TO ENTER

10. The Australian Football League (AFL) will be conducting the 2012 Origin Goal of the Year competition (Competition). This Promotion will be conducted in conjunction with the Competition. In the Competition, the AFL will select three (3) Goals scored in the matches played in the relevant AFL round (Competition Round) and post them on its website www.afl.com.au/goal. Individuals can vote for their favourite Goals in each of the twenty three (23) regular rounds of the 2012 Toyota AFL Premiership Season by following the directions on the website. After the individuals submit a vote in the Competition, they will then be directed to enter this Promotion.

11. Eligible Entrants can complete their Eligible Entry during the Promotion Period by: (a) logging on to www.afl.com.au/goal (Online Entry Site) and submitting a vote in the Competition, and then fully completing the requested details in accordance with the directions on the entry page for the Promotion, during the Promotion Period; and (b) indicating their acceptance of these Conditions of Entry (Qualifying Entry).

EACH ENTRY MUST RELATE TO A SEPERATE QUALIFYING ENTRY

12. Any costs associated with accessing the Promotion website are the Eligible Entrant’s responsibility and are dependent on the internet service provider used. Eligible Entrants must submit their entries manually using an internet browser.

13. Post Office boxes, Private Bags, Locked Bags or Common Boxes will not be accepted as postal addresses.

14. If an Eligible Entrant submits a Web Entry: i. Which complies with these Conditions of Entry, they will receive an on-screen notification confirming that their Web Entry is valid and has been received; or ii. which does not comply with these Conditions of Entry, they will receive an on-screen notification that their Web Entry is invalid, whichever is applicable in the circumstances.

15. The Promoter is not responsible for technical difficulties with the entry mechanism and does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all times.

16. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows a person to automatically enter the Promotion repeatedly is prohibited and will render entries submitted using such means invalid.

17. Incomplete or illegible entries, or entries which contain offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third party rights, including intellectual property rights, are not eligible to win.

18. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the Promoter's database, not time of transmission by the Eligible Entrant.

VERIFICATION

19. If requested by the Promoter, Eligible Entrants must produce, within the time requested by the Promoter at its absolute discretion appropriate photo identification or other documentation, required by the Promoter to verify their identity, age, eligibility to enter the Promotion and claim a prize (if drawn) and compliance with these Conditions of Entry. If the items required by the Promoter are not received or an entry has not been verified to the satisfaction of the Promoter within the time period required by the Promoter, the entry will be deemed invalid and, at the Promoter's absolute discretion, all of the Eligible Entrant's remaining entries will be invalid. A prize will only be awarded following all validation and verification requirements of the Promoter being met to its satisfaction.

20. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to invalidate any votes which it reasonably suspects have been submitted using false, incorrect, fraudulent or misleading information, including but not limited to personal details and contact information and/or votes that have been submitted through the use of multiple identities, email addresses or accounts.

21. All costs associated with or arising in connection with the prizes are the responsibility of the respective prize winner.

22. Eligible Entrants can only enter the Promotion in their own name.

DRAW AND PRIZE INFORMATION

MAJOR PRIZE

23. A random prize draw will be conducted at the Promoter’s office, 321 Exhibition Street Melbourne, Victoria, 3000 (Draw Location) by a representative of the Promoter at 10:00 on 21/09/12 from all Eligible Entries received during the Promotion (Major Prize Draw).

24. The first Eligible Entrant with a valid Eligible Entry drawn in the Major Prize Draw will win a Grand Final Ticket package valued at up to $5,000 (including GST) depending on the winner’s point of departure and one year’s worth of Origin Electricity supplied to their home, up to the maximum value of $3,000 (Major Prize). The Grand Final Ticket package consists of two tickets to the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final, one night accommodation for 2 people in a 4 star Melbourne hotel elected by the Promoter, dinner for 2 people to the value of $200 at a restaurant selected by the Promoter and breakfast (at an exact venue selected by the Promoter) on the day of the Grand Final. If the winner is from any other Australian State/Territory but Victoria, the Grand Final package will also include a $500 Flight Centre voucher that can be used toward travel costs. If the winner is from Victoria, they will not receive the $500 Flight Centre Voucher and this element of the prize will not be redeemable for cash. All elements of the prize mentioned above will be organized by the Promoter. Electricity supply will require the winner to sign up to Origin for a minimum 12 months and Origin will pay the electricity bill for up to 12 months, up to a maximum of $3,000. If the balance of $3,000 is reached by the winner before the allocated 12 months have passed, the winner can either: (a) cancel their electricity account with the Promoter (at no cost to the winner); or (b) retain their electricity account with the Promoter and pay for their own electricity usage as incurred in accordance with the Promoter’s standard terms. In the event that less than $3,000 worth of electricity is used by the winner during the allocated 12 month period, any remainder will not be redeemable for cash and will be forfeited.

25. Spending money, additional meals, insurance, transport to Melbourne, additional transfers, items of a personal nature, in-room charges and all other ancillary costs are not included. The prize must be taken to coincide with the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

26. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the Flight Centre voucher are not included. Any unused balance of the Flight Centre voucher will not be awarded as cash. Redemption of the Flight Centre voucher is subject to any terms and conditions of the issuer including those specified on the Flight Centre voucher.

27. In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion or suspend or modify a prize, subject to any written directions from a relevant regulatory authority.

28. Tickets to the 2012 Toyota AFL Grand Final are subject to the event venue and ticket terms and conditions. The Promoter and event organisers hereby expressly reserve the right to eject the winner (and/or his/her companion) for any inappropriate behaviour, including but not limited to intoxication, whilst participating in any element of the prize.

MINOR PRIZES

29. A random prize draw will be conducted at the Draw Location by a representative of the Promoter at 13.00 (unless stated otherwise) on the dates indicated below from all Eligible Entries received during each Competition Round (Minor Prize Draws).

30. All Entries received during the Promotion Period will be entered into the Major Prize Draw. Entries received between 02/04/12 and 10/09/12 will also be entered into the ‘next’ scheduled Minor Round Prize Draw (depending on when the entry is received). Entries will not be entered into any subsequent Minor Prize Draw(s) (for example an entry received on the 09/04/12 will be entered into the Minor Round Prize Draw on 10/04/12 only).

31. Eligible Entries received between 19:00 AEST on 10/09/12 and 12:00 noon AEST on 17/09/12 will only be entered into the Major Prize Draw.

32. The first five Eligible Entrants with a valid Eligible Entry drawn in each of the twenty three (23) Minor Prize Draws will win an Origin Gift Card valued at $50 (including GST) (Minor Prize). The Origin Gift Card (Card) can be used at any store where EFTPOS facilities are available and operational.

33. The Card can be used to purchase (or part pay in conjunction with cash) any goods or services available at these stores. No cash out facilities are available with the Card and the Card is not redeemable for cash, and is not for resale.

34. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the Card are not included. Any unused balance of the Card will not be awarded as cash. Redemption of the Card is subject to any terms and conditions of the issuer including those specified on the Card. Card conditions and exclusions apply. 35. The total value of the prize pool available to be won in the Promotion is up to AU$13,750 including GST.

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

36. The Major and Minor Prize winners will be notified by phone and email. The Major Prize Winner will published in The Australian on 25/09/2012.

UNCLAIMED PRIZE DRAW

37. A draw for the Major Prize, if unclaimed, may take place on 26/09/12 at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. Any winner will be notified by phone and email and their name will be published in The Australian on 28/09/2012.

38. A draw for any unclaimed Minor Prizes may take place on 11/12/2012 at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. Any winner will be notified by phone and email.

39. Prizes will be delivered to the residential address as advised by the respective winner.

40. Acceptance and use of the prizes is subject to terms and conditions imposed by those involved in providing goods and / or services as part of or in connection with the Prizes.

41. Prizes cannot be sold, scalped, auctioned, raffled, pledged, or promoted as an incentive or reward by any third party as an inducement for any person or other entity to enter into any commercial or other arrangements with that third party. If a prize is obtained through any of these methods, it will not be honoured.

42. If more than one person attempts to claim a Prize, the Promoter has sole and absolute discretion to determine which of those persons is the winning Eligible Entrant.

43. If a Prize winner is under 18 years of age, the prize will be awarded to their parent or guardian on the Prize winner’s behalf.

44. All Eligible Entrants and the parent or guardian of each Eligible Entrant under 18 years of age agrees to indemnify the Promoter against: (a) any claims made by the Eligible Entrant, his or her guardian, any member of his or her family or any other party, against the Promoter in connection with the Promotion or the Eligible Entrant's participation in the Promotion; and (b) any losses (including any liability) caused by any act or omission of the eligible Entrant which is inconsistent with these Conditions of Entry.

GENERAL

45. Each Qualifying Entry counts towards one (1) entry only.

46. Eligible Entrants may enter multiple times, however; (a) a maximum of one (1) entry per person per Competition Round is permitted; (b) each entry must be based on a separate Qualifying Entry; and (c) each entry must be submitted separately in accordance with these Conditions of Entry.

47. Eligible Entrants who are not residents of South Australia may win a maximum of one (1) Minor Prize in the Promotion only.

48. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Prizes must be taken as offered and may not be varied.

49. Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason a winner does not take a prize (or an element of the prize), then the prize (or that element of the prize) will be forfeited.

50. The Promoter shall not be liable for the prizes being lost, stolen, damaged or tampered with in any way before they reach the winners or after they have been released to the winners.

51. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prizes from the time of printing Promotion materials.

52. If the Promoter is unable to provide a winner(s) with a nominated prize, the Promoter reserves the right to supply an alternative prize of similar monetary value to the nominated prize, subject to any directions given by State and / or Territory Gaming Departments.

53. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Promotion Period. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late or misdirected entries. The Promoter does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all times during the Promotion Period.

54. If, for any reason, the Promotion is not capable of being run as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to take any action that may be available to it, subject to States and Territories regulations, including cancelling, terminating, modifying or suspending the Promotion or disqualifying any person.

55. Any person who, in the opinion of the Promoter, tampers or interferes with the entry or draw mechanism in any way, engages in any unlawful or improper conduct which jeopardises or is likely to jeopardise the fair or proper conduct of the Promotion, or who does not properly comply with the entry process, will be ineligible to win.

56. Entrants and/or prize winners must, if requested by the Promoter, agree to, sign and return to the Promoter within such time frame as is stipulated by the Promoter: i. an eligibility form confirming their compliance with the Conditions and eligibility to accept a prize if drawn; and ii. a liability release, waiver and/or indemnity, in a form determined by the Promoter and in favour of the Promoter and/or any person or other entity associated with this Promotion. A reply paid address will be provided by the Promoter for this purpose. In the case of an Eligible Entrant’s failure to return the signed eligibility form, releases and indemnities will result in the disqualification of that Eligible Entrant from the Promotion. Failure to return the signed eligibility form, releases and indemnities will result in the entitlement to a prize being forfeited and a selection of a new winner.

57. The: (a) Promoter, the Promoter's related entities and all agencies associated with the Promotion; and (b) the employees, agents, directors and contractors, of all entities referred to in paragraph (a) above, shall not be liable for any loss or claim, action, demand, liability, damage, cost, expense or personal injury whatsoever (including but not limited to any direct, indirect or consequential loss), incurred, suffered or sustained by any person or entity (without limitation) in connection with, or arising from, the Promotion or the acceptance or use of a prize, except that which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the maximum extent allowable by law). Nothing in these Conditions of Entry limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia.

58. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from winning or receiving the benefit of a prize.

59. Prize winners must, at the Promoter's and/or the AFL’s request, participate in any Promotion activity (such as publicity, photography, film and/or recording) relating to the winning of a prize, free of charge, and they consent to the Promoter using their name and image in any future promotional material for an unlimited period.

60. CAUTION:

Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, whether successful or not, the Promoter reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

61. All entries become the sole property of the Promoter.

62. All information Eligible Entrants provide (Personal Information) will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this Promotion and may be entered into a database which the Promoter, the Promoter's related entities, agencies engaged by the Promoter, or any other third party nominated by the Promoter, including the AFL, may use for the Promoter's and/or the AFL’s current and future promotional and marketing purposes without further reference or compensation to the Eligible Entrant. Entry is conditional on providing this information.

63. The Promoter may disclose Eligible Entrants' Personal Information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this Promotion and as required, to Australian regulatory authorities.

64. Eligible Entrants can request access to update or correct their Personal Information held by the Promoter and may request that they not receive further promotional or marketing communications from the Promoter by contacting the Promoter at the address above. Should an Eligible Entrant's contact details change during the Promotion Period, it is the Eligible Entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter.

65. The Promoter is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
