Forward Nick Gill, unseen through Adelaide’s NAB Cup campaign, has had another setback.
Gill, frustrated over the pre-season by calf injuries, played a half in North Adelaide’s internal trial last Friday night but again hurt his calf at training yesterday.
Crows physical performance manager Stephen Schwerdt said he hoped Gill would only miss one game. "It's a bit sore but we are not yet sure when he will be able to get back on the track," he said.
A calf strain from a training session in Dubai in early February cost Gill a chance to consolidate his spot in the Adelaide line-up – a position he earned late last season when he made his AFL debut and impressed in seven appearances.
Other Crows who played in SANFL trials last weekend were Kris Massie, Luke Jericho, Aaron Kite and Taylor Walker (Norwood), Andy Otten (South), Jarrhan Jacky (Eagles), Tony Armstrong (North), James Sellar (Glenelg) and rookies James Moss (Central District) and Brodie Martin (Sturt).
Most SANFL clubs have two more trial matches before the competition’s season opens on Friday, March 28.
Upgraded 2007 rookie Greg Gallman (knee bone bruising) and 2007 draftee Myke Cook (hamstring) are likely to return for the last weekend of trials.
