RICHMOND’S Graham Polak is continuing to respond positively to treatment at the Epworth Rehabilitation Centre for injuries he suffered after being hit by a tram in late June.

Polak, 24, suffered severe head trauma in the accident after the round 14 loss to Carlton and will not play again this season, but club doctor Greg Hickey was upbeat in the latest update issued by the club.

“Graham continues to make significant gains,” Hickey said.

“His cognitive function is improving and the outlook remains positive. We are very pleased with his progress.”

Polak has been treated for post-traumatic amnesia in the wake of the June 28 accident, and it remains unclear how long he will remain hospitalised.

His family and partner Alyce have played an integral part in the recovery process and they have been inundated with messages of support for Polak from Tiger fans and the wider football community.

Polak was initially treated at the Alfred Hospital before being transferred to the Epworth facility with teammates Jordan McMahon and Cleve Hughes, who were present at the scene of the accident, remaining unavailable for comment.
