CROWS forward Jason Porplyzia suffered concussion and was forced from the field during his team's eight-point win over Carlton at AAMI Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Porplyzia was collected in an off-the-ball incident with Carlton youngster Steven Browne, although there did not appear to be any malice in the clash.

The Blues had earlier singled out the match winning forward for some special attention on his suspect shoulder, which the gutsy forward re-dislocated during the match.

Crows coach Neil Craig is hopeful of regaining Porplyzia for next week's match against Richmond and was full of praise for his spearhead when speaking after the match.

“Jason Porplyzia is showing enormous courage to play AFL footy and to perform with a shoulder that comes in and out. I’m not sure if anyone here has ever had that injury, but there is pain involved. He’s doing a great job for the team,” he said.

“The important thing here is that, he’s not just taking the field and being a number out there, he’s actually contributing, very strongly. It just adds to his profile and what a lot of supporters think about Jason Porplyzia. He’s a legitimate AFL player.”

Porplyzia, who kicked five goals last week, was in good form prior to the incident with one goal to his name.

The Crows also lost Chris Knights to a hamstring injury, while Blue Eddie Betts also suffered a hamstring strain in the second quarter, preventing him from taking any further part in the match.
