EMERGING North Melbourne forward Ben Warren was taken to hospital after suffering a serious leg injury against the Western Bulldogs in the round 13 clash at the MCG on Sunday.

Warren, 20, left the field at the six-minute mark of the first quarter and was unable to put weight on his right leg.

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance and early reports suggest the leg may be broken.

The youngster was playing in his ninth senior game after making his debut in round four against Essendon.

He had just returned to the side after a fractured cheekbone sustained against St Kilda in round 11 sidelined him for one game.

Bulldogs forward Daniel Giansiracusa also hurt his right ankle in the first quarter and missed most of the term after disappearing down the race.

He returned to the field to resume his duel with Kangaroo Brady Rawlings and played a key role in the final quarter as the Bulldogs pulled away and secured a 22-point victory.
