GEELONG tough-nut Max Rooke knew the Cats would win this year's premiership after he visited a psychic earlier in the year.
Skipper Tom Harley revealed after the Toyota AFL Grand Final that Rooke had been told by the psychic that Geelong would take out the ultimate prize in 2009.
"Max is a spiritual kind of guy. In fact, I'll let you in on a bit of a secret," Harley said.
"He knew we were going to win today. He saw a psychic 10 weeks ago – this is fair dinkum – and they said we were going to win the premiership.
"We said: 'Rookey, that's a bit rich'. But he said: 'No, this is serious. I saw the same psychic last year and she said in round four we'd lose to Hawthorn [in last year's grand final]'.
"The only thing she got wrong was that she thought Corey Enright would win the Norm Smith Medal."
Harley, who labeled Rooke as the heart and soul of the club, said he was a "pretty eclectic soul".
Meanwhile, Harley acknowledged St Kilda would be feeling "hollow and shattered right now" after it went down to the Cats.
"A bit like us last year; we had such a dominant season and they were the dominant team all year and that's the unfortunate nature of the beast of grand finals," he said.
"They won the minor premiership and the most games and they played with amazing spirit today, but that's what probably makes the win just so sweet.
"They say good things happen to good people and we've probably taken it to another level – great things happen to great people."
Harley said St Kilda would be burning all summer.
"I'd expect big things from the Saints next year."
