PORT Adelaide has snared tall utility Jay Schulz from Richmond in exchange for small rebounding defender Mitch Farmer.
The Tigers will also receive Port Adelaide's fifth-round selection (No.72 overall) in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft.
Schulz, originally from South Australian club Woodville-West Torrens, played 71 games and kicked 58 goals for the Tigers in seven seasons after being selected at pick No.12 in the 2002 national draft.
The 24-year-old managed just four senior games this year.
Farmer was taken by Port Adelaide at pick No.49 overall in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.
The 20-year-old captained the Calder Cannons' 2007 TAC Cup premiership side, represented Vic Metro in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships the same year, and was named in the back pocket in the TAC Cup team of the year.
He made a promising debut for Port Adelaide late in the 2008 season, holding his spot for rounds 18 to 20, but did not manage a senior AFL appearance this year.
The 2009 AFL exchange period runs from October 5-9. No trades are official until paperwork has been accepted by the AFL and formally recognised after 2pm on Friday, October 9.
